Everstoke will become a private club and end public access in 2026

After months of deliberation and contemplation, we have decided to end public access at Everstoke in 2026 and move to a members-only model.

Everstoke is 91 acres of rugged, off-grid land built for mountain bikers to have a home base for exploring the beautiful Lost Sierra. There’s at least a week of epic riding within an hour’s drive AND if you want to ride every trail on the property it’s about 12 miles and 4,000 feet of climbing.

We’ve been building this place for four years and it has been SO rewarding to make SO many people happy with our trails and vibe. We’ve gone from no water, no power, no toilets, no trails and a giant dust bowl to something quite special.

But we are still trying to figure this whole thing out. How do we make Everstoke the best it can possibly be?

If we keep offering public access we have the endless day-to-day tasks of managing bookings and arrivals and waivers and interacting with the public. The more successful we get, the more hands-on we have to be.

Even with all of our bases covered, there’s always a nagging feeling that we are one crash away from legal hell. Especially since none of our trails are beginner friendly.

🤝 Membership

Phasing into a membership model means we can financially sustain and accelerate the improvement of Everstoke with a core group of people that have skin in the game.

We can spend more time building amenities, trails and community. It’s a force multiplier where everyone is pulling in the same direction.

This means an initiation fee and a yearly fee for members, much like a country club. For the cost of a typical one week mountain bike vacation (for just one person), you and your family get year-round adventures at Everstoke.

Membership includes:

  • 24/7 private access with a gate code

  • Free camping

  • Regular group rides and shuttles exploring The Lost Sierra

  • Discounted access to the tiny house

  • Voting on future priorities

  • Member’s only forum to connect online

Members can bring a guest to Everstoke. Immediate family like spouses, parents and children are also welcome.

If we hit our goals we can keep adding amenities like a real-deal clubhouse, dry cabins and an outdoor kitchen.

We will no longer take any new camping bookings from the public. We will honor all current campsite or tiny house bookings through the end of the year.

Day visitors can still ride this year, but we’ll make sure to let them know of the coming change.

Only Everstoke members and invited guests will be allowed on the property in 2026.

🚲 The best riding in California

Everstoke is at the epicenter of mountain biking’s next big thing.

We’ll put together group rides and shuttle days to show you the best of the best.

The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship has plans for several massive descents in the National Forest DIRECTLY ABOVE our property and hundreds of new miles of singletrack in the surrounding region.

RIGHT NOW we have Mills Peak, Mt. Elwell, and Jamison Creek just a short drive away. Downieville, Mt. Hough and SO MANY more just a bit further.

It is endless up here. We’re living the dream.

❤️ Building community

We know the riding is just one piece of the Everstoke experience. Sitting around the campfire and sharing stories is just as important. Swimming in the river. Watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. Getting together for a group dinner. Off of our phones and in the dirt, together.

We’ve spent countless hours and dollars to get to this point. We are so happy to get this far, but we’ve got a lot more to get done.
